


KUNDALINI GLOBAL YOGA TEACHER & BREATH COACH
KUNDALINI YOGA is an ancient yoga discipline. Where some yoga practices are more physical, Kundalini is based on spiritual awareness and exploring the powerful possibilities held within.
‘Kundalini Global’ was created by Carolyn Cowan. It's a new form of Kundalini that has stepped away from the practice taught by Yogi Bhajan, eliminating the ‘Guru’ status and making it more radically inclusive. Inclusive of religious beliefs, physical abilities, body size, gender preference/identities, ethnicities and age. Kundalini Global incorporates more restful moments so we really feel the body’s sensations and natural endorphin release.
We practice postures (asanas/kriyas) with integrated breath (pranayama), mudras (hand gestures), bandhas (body locks), meditations with mantras and we play with energy and the quantum field. This encourages blood flow to the body and brain working to expand neuroplasticity, enabling all of us to thrive at our highest potential.
One crucial focus in a Kundalini Global class is the central nervous system and stimulating the Vagus nerve. Vagus is latin for ‘wandering’, an incredible nerve which meanders from the brain stem all the way down to our gut, creating a physical relationship between the brain and the body. This beautiful nerve is responsible for the fight or flight response, the sympathetic nervous system. By stretching the fascia (connective tissue), engaging in posture and utilising our breath we begin to stimulate this nerve highway increasing blood flow to our endocrine system and boosting our immune system. This releases natural endorphins and changes our hormonal flow, soothing the anxious mind. In turn carrying the brain and the body into the para-sympathetic system. The calm, the quiet, the still mind.
Our yoga mat is our safe haven where we commit to our practice and learn how to navigate tricky times. It's
where we begin to understand how to hack into the
stress system, learning how to regulate ourselves.
Which naturally raises our energetic vibration.
Many people turn to yoga as a powerful release for stress, depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, self-harm, addiction, and traumatic or upsetting experiences in life. Sometimes we carry baggage with us from our childhood or family history.
This baggage can be held as what we call 'contracts' deep within our physical body and often held as ‘shame’. Contracts can change the way the brain copes with stress by ‘triggering’ us. When we’re dealing with the ‘pain of the past’ and also the ‘fear of the future’ we’re often repeating what has gone on before us. Hence we call it our ‘history’.
Practising in class with me we’ll begin to change the narrative of those negative cycles. If you’re feeling stressed, anxious, overwhelmed or just plain old worn out from everyday life, I will guide you to the stillness of a balanced mind. Inducing the feeling of being ‘safe’.

Kundalini Global teachers are offered on-going supervision after their training and are fully supported. We are taught to be self reflective, notice our edges and boundaries. Any questions or uncomfortable feelings from practice or class are taken to supervision.

I'M LISSY BONES
I consciously choose to live my life raising my energetic vibration. I live in central London and regularly feel the pull to escape the city for the open skies of the countryside or to be by the sea. This is my reset. In reality we tend to live in a constant state of overload at home, work and with social media. By doing things that give us the simplest of pleasure, we're able to keep our energy in balance.
I’ve worked in the creative and advertising industry for over 25 years, running my own business for the last 20 years. During this time I’ve
always had a passion for yoga, holistic health and raising awareness around mental health.
Training under Carolyn, who is also a trauma therapist, has given me an invaluable set of teaching skills which allows me to confidently guide my clients on how to stay present. Understanding your room, being authentic and holding a safe space are all key elements of KG teachers. I’m also a children’s yoga teacher, an energy healer, a massage therapist and am trained in The Metamorphic Technique.
My classes are open to all abilities -
supports/props are available, with alternative postures given. You can practice in a chair too.
Sadly my classes are not suitable if you are pregnant.
Being a mother to a teenage daughter I understand the need to support mental health even more in this digital day and age. I'm also trained in Self Harm and Suicide Prevention.
